Coco Deck Lahaina | Kitchen + Bar
Honest Impressions in Lahaina
After a full morning enjoying west side beaches, our family was hungry. The kids and us adults were sun-kissed, and we were all ready for a feast. Coco Deck delivered. We’ve been a fan of Chef Alvin for a long time, so it was an extra pleasure meeting him and having him cook for us!

Atmosphere & Setting
The first thing you notice when walking into Coco Deck in Lahaina is the sense of resilience. This spot, surrounded by rebuilding after the Maui fires, now stands as a beacon of community and comeback. Supporting local businesses like this isn’t just about enjoying a great meal, it’s about helping Lahaina rebuild, one plate at a time.
The restaurant is beautifully put together, with a great bar, outdoor seating, game viewing couches, and plenty of games for the kids. The kids were busy with Pacman, foozeball, legos, books, billiards, and basketball, making this an easy win for a family-friendly dining spot.
Service
Service was attentive without being overbearing. Our server, Javier, was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely cared about our experience. He was invested in sharing what’s worth ordering. He checked in regularly but wasn’t pushy, a delicate balance that not every restaurant gets right. Considering we 3 kids with us, I appreciated that he was patient.
The Food: Honest Impressions
First thing we were glad to know is that all the fish are brought in daily from local fisherman directly from Mala Ramp. That’s a short commute. Veggies/fruit are from Kula Farms and Hua Momona Farm and beef from Maui Cattle.
Poke Donut – A playful and inventive twist on poke, this dish featured fresh ahi poke nestled inside a crisp, golden-brown donut ring (with more ahi on top.). The contrast of textures made it a standout starter.
Chicken Wings – These were everything you want in a wing, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and served with a southwest ranch. Our son devoured them.
Nachos with Beef Birria – Think nachos, but better. The slow-braised birria beef was tender and perfect with the crispy chips, melted queso, and pico de gallo.
Smash Burger and Funky Fries – The smash burger had that signature crispy edge and juicy center, while the Funky Fries, a mix of classic, sweet potato, waffle, and curly fries, were tasty. Candied onions and pickels for the win.
Fish Tacos & Birria Tacos – The fish tacos were light and fresh, featuring perfectly cooked fish. This is the only place that needs work. The fish tacos could use more flavor, though the citrus crema was good. We solved the issue with some housemade hot sauces. The birria tacos, were packed with slow-cooked beef, melty cheese, and served with a savory consommé for dipping.
Coco Toast – A dessert that screams island indulgence. fried crispy Hawaiian sweet bread drizzled in coconut jam, topped with crushed almonds, and served with coffee ice cream. This was pretty spectacular and didn’t last long.
Drinks
They also focus locally when it comes to spirits. You’ll find Ocean Vodka, Mahina Rum, and Maui Brew Co. on the drink menu.
Mai Tai – A tropical classic done right, with just the right balance of tart and sweet. The pineapple tiki foam made it for me. Also, glad to see it made with Orgeat, an almond syrup, that you don’t often see in mai tais. Their bartender knows how to make them right.
Horchata Coladas (in coconut cups!) – These were as delicious as they were Instagram-worthy. Creamy, coconutty, and refreshing. Our kids ordered them booze free and loved them.
Babe on Vacation – A bright and citrusy cocktail that lived up to its name. Gin and I get along famously, and so did this celebrity pig.

Lahaina is rebuilding, and Coco Deck is part of that story (ask about the origins of the name.) The food? Absolutely worth a return trip. Next time, we’re coming back for dinner. And definitely another round of those Horchata Coladas.
