Since The Maui Cookie Lady’s inception in 2012, the Maui community has been hooked on Mitzi’s enormous signature cookies. Fueled by Maui’s incessant desire for her cookies, what started as a fundraising passion project grew into a full-time business.
More recently, The Maui Cookie Lady and her confections have found themselves at the epicenter of a media blitz, with features in Forbes and Baked Magazine and appearances on national shows like Good Morning America. Mitzi’s cookies even received praise from top celebrities like Ludacris and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Skeptics might wonder if The Maui Cookie Lady’s behemoth cookies (some weigh up to 10 ounces) are worth the hype. In short: absolutely! What’s more, her fairytale-like shop in Makawao is becoming one of the town’s star attractions.
Nestled on Baldwin Avenue, The Maui Cookie Lady storefront is decorated with flickering lanterns, gnarled stumps bedecked in hanging vines, and whimsical signs pointing the way to Wonkaville, Haleakala, The Emerald City, Hana, and Hogwarts. Fantastical music drifts throughout the space, mingling with the scent of freshly baked cookies. Meanwhile, the shelves overflow with sweets of all sorts— including cookies.
Although Mitzi is a self-taught baker, you wouldn’t know by trying her cookies. The Maui Cookie Lady’s signature cookies are heaping mounds of goodness. Each cookie is handmade in small batches— quite the feat considering the high demand! In addition, Mitzi uses locally sourced ingredients as much as possible, resulting in seasonal releases and unique creations like Pineapple Lychee Passion with hibiscus flowers.

The Maui Cookie Lady storefront is located at 3643 Baldwin Avenue and is open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday, and 10 am to 2 pm Sunday.
